Arsenal v Leicester City Live Commentary & Result, 2022/08/13, Premier League | Goal.com (2023)

That's all for now though, goodbye!

The result means Arsenal are second in the early Premier League table, while Leicester are 14th.

A sensational display from Jesus powers Arsenal to an impressive 4-2 victory. The hosts - and Jesus - started quickly in this one: first, Jesus curled in a superb opener, before nodding in from close range to make it two. Arsenal were in command at half-time, but Leicester pulled one back when Saliba headed into his own net. The hosts reacted quickly, though, with Jesus setting up Xhaka following a mistake from Ward. And the pattern repeated itself when Maddison pulled one back, only for Martinelli to restore the two-goal advantage with a precise finish. Leicester continued to work hard, but Arsenal ran out impressive winners.

First, Jesus opened the scoring with a superb curling effort. Then, the striker doubled Arsenal's advantage with a clever header. Leicester were reeling and were left frustrated when Vardy won a penalty only for VAR to overturn the decision. 1' Leicester kick off the first half.

The players are emerging from the tunnel and kick off is just seconds away!

The visitors will be looking to correct their poor away record today. Leicester have kept one clean sheet in their last 26 away Premier League matches, doing so in a 2-0 win at Burnley last March. They haven’t kept a clean sheet on the road against a current top-flight side since February 2021, a goalless draw at Wolves.

Leicester also opt for continuity as they name the same starting line-up that began against Brentford.

Arsenal are unchanged following their 2-0 victory over Palace.

SUBS: Dennis Praet, Ayoze Perez, Kelechi Iheanacho, Daniel Iversen, Caglar Soyuncu, Marc Albrighton, Luke Thomas, Nampalys Mendy, Patson Daka.

LEICESTER CITY (3-5-1-1): Danny Ward; Wesley Fofana, Jonny Evans, Daniel Amartey; Timothy Castagne, Youri Tielemans, Wilfred Ndidi, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, James Justin; James Maddison; Jamie Vardy.

SUBS: Kieran Tierney, Nicolas Pepe, Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Matt Turner, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Mohamed Elneny, Rob Holding.

ARSENAL (4-3-3): Aaron Ramsdale; Ben White, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Oleksandr Zinchenko; Martin Odegaard, Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka; Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli.

Leicester, meanwhile, arrive in London following a 2-2 draw with Brentford. Manager, Brendan Rodgers, would have been upset with his side surrendering a 2-0 lead in that game, and he’ll be expecting a reaction against a tough Arsenal team today.

Hello and welcome to live commentary of this Premier League fixture between Arsenal and Leicester City. The hosts enter this one on a high: they come into this one following a 2-0 victory away at Crystal Palace to start the season, and they’ll be looking to maintain a 100 per cent record today.
