Bevor ihr inKitty Powers‘ Matchmakerselbst Hand anlegen dürft, müsst ihr euren eigenen Charakter erstellen. Hierbei könnt ihr nicht nur das Aussehen bestimmen, sondern auch den Charakter selbst. Aber keine Sorge, ihr erstellt den Charakter nicht aus Dumdudelei, er wird am Ende in die Spiele von anderen Spielern importiert, sodass diese ihn dann verkuppeln können. Ziemlich cool! Und zudem bringt das Verkuppeln von erstellten Avataren auch noch einen kleinen Extrabonus ein.
Nachdem ihr euch erstellt habt, beginnt das Tutorial, bei denen euch Kitty Powers höchstpersönlich zeigt, wie die Dates funktionieren. Doch was gerade in der ersten Runde einfach klingt, entpuppt sich schnell als witziges und kniffeliges Gedankenspiel, das man so nicht vermutet hätte. Und das, was ihr im Tutorial erlebt, ist erst der Anfang eurer Karriere als Partnervermittlungsagentur, denn ihr habt noch einen ganz langen Welt vor euch. Aber keine Sorge, mit jedem verkuppelten Paar steigt euer Level und somit auch eure Möglichkeiten, um noch besser zu verkuppeln.

Das A und O beiKitty Powers‘ Matchmakerliegt in einer hohen Konzentration, aber zunächst erklären wir euch erst einmal das tiefe Konzept des Spiels. Zunächst einmal habt ihr einen Klienten, der euch erklärt, wer er ist und was er sucht. Dann liegt es an euch, aus einigen entsprechenden Vorschlägen euren bestmöglichen Kandidaten zu wählen. Am besten wählt hier jemanden, der auch zu eurem Klienten passt. Soweit, so gut, doch der eigentliche Akt geht nun erst los.
Später im Spiel könnt ihr euren Klienten auch noch anpassen, also ihm entsprechend andere Kleidung anziehen, seine Haare färben oder etwas vollkommen anderes. Habt ihr das getan, geht es erst richtig los. Zunächst einmal müsst ihr gleich zu Beginn ordentlich eurem Date zuhören, denn es geht darum, was er gern essen möchte. Das bedeutet, dass ihr eine Angabe á la “Something cold with white meat. But without dairy, please”. Ja,Kitty Powers‘ Matchmakerist auf Englisch, was aber in den meisten Fällen zu keinerlei Problemen führen sollte. Nach diesem Wunsch wird euch die Karte des Restaurants angezeigt und ihr müsst herausfinden, welches Gericht nun passend ist. Das ist nicht immer einfach, da nicht immer ganz ersichtlich ist, worum es sich handelt.
Der weitere Ablauf des Dates ist je nach Restaurant und Date ein bisschen anders, bietet aber im Grunde viele verschiedene Minispiele, bei denen ihr nicht nur Glück, sondern auch Konzentration braucht: Da geht euer Date zur Toilette und ihr müsst sagen, was sich verändert hat. In euch sammelt sich ein bisschen Gas an und ihr müsst mit etwas Glück ein Kartenspiel gewinnen, um nicht lautstark zu pupsen. Oder ihr müsst euch merken, welche Gerichte auf dem Dessertwagen stehen. Magic Notion, die Entwickler, haben sich da wirklich allerhand überlegt, um euch bei Laune zu halten. Dabei müsst ihr wirklich auf alles Mögliche achten, denn irgendwann könnte es relevant sein.
Je besser ihr seid, desto besser ist am Ende auch euer Date, was wiederum ausschlaggebend ist, ob die beiden am Ende zusammenkommen oder nicht. Übrigens: Wer viel lügt während des Dates, kassiert zwar möglicherweise erst einmal die Reputation für das Date, sorgt aber mit ziemlicher Sicherheit dafür, dass sich das Paar nach einiger Zeit trennt. Und das führt wiederum dazu, dass euer Ruf sinkt und das bedeutet wiederum, dass ihr möglicherweise weniger Klienten bekommt. Aber lasst euch nicht entmutigen! Es macht Spaß, es macht süchtig und es führt dazu, dass man immer wieder einen Blick riskiert!
Leider ist nicht immer ganz offensichtlich, welcher Klasse nun das Date oder der Klient angehört, das ist manchmal ein wenig frustrierend und sollte nicht sein.
Das Wurst Case Scenario gibt’s auch!
Und grafisch?
Kitty Powers‘ Matchmakerbasiert grafisch auf einer interessanten Idee: Zwar erinnert alles ein bisschen an einen Comic, dafür sind die Augen und Gesichter der Figuren unheimlich realistisch und glaubwürdig. Fühlt sich die Figur nicht wohl, verdreht sie die Augen und wirkt auch so sehr unsicher. Hier wirktKitty Powers‘ Matchmakerunheimlich realistisch und glaubwürdig! Sehr gelungene Arbeit.
Aber selbstverständlich braucht Kitty Powers auch ihren ganz eigenen Abschnitt. Die Gute ist extravagant und hat einen ganz eigenen Stil, der aber unheimlich passend ist. Allerdings kann man Kitty entweder lieben oder hassen, wir glauben, dass ein Zwischending nicht möglich ist. Wir fanden Kitty jedoch witzig, spritzig und mochten vor allem Kommentare wie “Thomas WAS Alone, aber dann traf er mich” oder “Eigentlich wollten wir ein Spiel mit Pixelgrafik machen, aber ich sehe dann einfach nicht mehr sooo gut aus”.
Ansonsten steuert sichKitty Powers‘ Matchmakerübrigens mit der Maus und geht auch auf technisch nicht ganz so modernen Rechnern. Wir selbst hatten auf unserem Sony Vaio mit einem Alter von circa 5 Jahren keinerlei Probleme. Allerdings hat es doch einige wenige Mängel, so wiederholen sich häufig die Sätze, wenn man lange genug spielt, was nicht sein müsste. Die Sätze richten sich nach der Gruppe, die der Klient angehört, doch hier sollte ein kleines bisschen Abwechslung her, wie wir finden. Auch das Gebrabbel, das die Klienten von sich geben, ist eher nervig und immer dasselbe.

Wir sind vonKitty Powers‘ Matchmakerhin und weg und regelrecht süchtig nach dem Titel, obwohl er vom Gameplay her absolut nichts für hirnlose Spieler ist! Wir haben und hatten beim Testen vonKitty Powers‘ Matchmakerunseren Spaß und könenn den Titel jedem empfehlen, der auf der Suche nach einer ganz besonderen Abwechslung für zwischendurch ist. Vor allem das besondere Konzept vonKitty Powers‘ Matchmakersprach uns an, denn es ist einmal etwas ganz Anderes andere Leute zu daten und nicht immer nur selbst das unschuldige Hühnchen zu sein, das eine Taube sucht.
Aber natürlich istKitty Powers‘ Matchmakernichts für Jedermann, da man einfach viel mitdenken, zuhören und aufpassen muss. Also, für ganz so zwischendurch ist es dann doch nicht geeignet, lieber sollte man sich in Ruhe ein wenig Zeit dafür nehmen. Aber das ändert nichts daran, dass uns vor allem auch das grafische Konzept zusagte. Magic Notion hat mitKitty Powers‘ Matchmakerwirklich ein herzallerliebstes mit einer unheimlich spritzigen und originellen Hauptfigur. Kitty, wir lieben dich!
